Rubi: The Wayward Mira is a 2D action-platformer set in a lush pixel world of Casimir. You will play Rubi, a Mira who is unable to use magic in a world where there is an overabundance of it. Your goal is to reunite Rubi with her family by restarting the Large Hadron Collider. At the same time, you must fend off the mana-hungry Feral Miras. Her attacks are inspired by the particle physics experiments that merged Casimir and Earth. Without Rubi mastering her fighting skills, she won’t survive. Let alone make it back to Casimir.
Rubi: The Wayward Mira is set in a post-apocalyptic period. In the world of Casimir, the spellcasting Mira have used up their resources and are living in decay. Rubi - a young Mira - has a life-threatening illness where she is unable to use her mana. She falls into a portal to planet Earth. Other Mira follows her to the portal and is overjoyed to find the flowing mana on Earth. Unfortunately, it does more harm than good. Any Mira that consumes Earthly mana turns feral.
At this point, Rubi realizes her illness can save her from becoming a savage monster. Your job is to bring Rubi back to Casimir using the game’s ability-based progression mechanics. This game is a combination of Metroidvania and role-playing games neatly packaged in endearing 8-bit graphics. On top of its action-packed gameplay, it’s also a good game for players that enjoy the sci-fi and fantasy genre. Expect that this game will keep you on your toes as it features non-linear gameplay and multiple playstyles and endings. Overall, it is an impressive Metroidvania that offers rewarding gameplay and beautiful pixel art.
